We worked with Joey and his team at Fairway on our first home purchase in McHenry County, and overall the loan process went smoothly from a technical standpoint. Joey helped us secure a competitive rate and the loan itself was structured well; underwriting, appraisal, and final approval all stayed on track and we were able to close on time (under 30 days) without any surprises in fees or cash-to-close. After the initial stage, most of our communication shifted to the processing team (particularly Gianna and Danielle) who were responsive whenever we reached out and helped move the file through underwriting and toward closing. As first-time home buyers, the one area where the experience could improve is proactive communication. At times we found ourselves checking in for status updates or explanations of next steps rather than receiving them automatically. The team was always helpful when we asked questions, but more proactive guidance would have made the process less stressful for someone going through a mortgage for the first time. Overall, the team delivered what ultimately matters most: a competitive loan and an on-time closing. Future first-time buyers may just want to be prepared to stay engaged and ask questions throughout the process.
